Transmission Repair
TRANSMISSION GOT YOU DOWN?
Servicing today’s modern transmissions requires a high degree of technical skill and years of training, and this is where Friendswood Auto Center excels. Our certified technicians perform everything from routine maintenance and minor repairs, to complete rebuild/replacement of automatic and standard transmissions and clutches, including all domestic and most foreign vehicles, light and heavy-duty trucks, 4x4s, SUVs, and commercial vehicles.
Transmission Inspection & Maintenance
The transmission is a crucial and potentially expensive part of your vehicle if not properly maintained. Aside from following Manufacturer’s Recommended Maintenance Schedule, if you see signs that something isn’t “right” with your transmission or sounds “funny”, it is vital to bring your car to a trustworthy mechanic in order to avoid significant safety issues and potentially costly repairs. Some signs your transmission may need an inspection include:
- Slippage (engine speeds up, but the vehicle does not)
- Hard or rough shifting between gears
- Irregular Shifting shifting while driving
- Oil and/or fluid stains under the vehicle
- Abnormal sounds or vibrations
- The trusty “check engine light”
Troubleshooting Transmission Problems
If you notice your transmission is not performing as expected, it’s is always best to have it inspected sooner rather than later. At Friendswood Auto Center, we understand your time is valuable and will get your vehicle into our shop as soon as possible. We will diagnose the problem and recommend repairs with an honest estimate to get your vehicle back on the road again safely and economically.
Repair or Replace?
Due to the highly technical nature of automatic transmissions today, most dealerships do not have transmission technicians in their service department. If you have a transmission problem, most will recommend that the entire unit be replaced. In most cases, you do not need a whole new transmission. You may need some repairs, and many times that work is minor. Even if it turns out to be a major repair, most of the time it will cost less to rebuild your transmission than to replace it entirely. Either way – we will always provide you with options so that you can make an informed repair decision.
Warranty
To guarantee the accuracy of our diagnostics and repairs, we offer a hassle-free nationwide 24 month/24,000 mile warranty on all repairs.
